Help Desk – What is a ‘Process File’ upload?

The Shortest Definition:
A process file is a document you upload on WriteVault.Com that explains visually and verbally your product or design.
A Longer Definition:
When you’re trying to protect a product you’ve designed but it’s not quite ready for a patent or trademark, it’s important to document your process so it can be used to protect your intellectual property.
A process file is simply an introduction and description of the process your product takes from conception to fruition using images and words to describe your product.
Think of it as a pdf portfolio showcasing your work in tedious detail.
We recommend including the following things in your process file so your creation is protected. (Remember, all process files uploaded to Write Vault are always set to Private and cannot be downloaded for your legal protection)
- A title page with contact information
- Basic description of the product
- Process images that show a timeline of the product’s creation.
- Descriptions for every image to help define what the photograph is depicting.
